So I have been formulating my first, “real” post on this blog for days. I can’t get over writing this first post – I keep thinking “I have to make it catchy or creative or intellectual.” But forget that!! I am just going to write. And to my good fortune, today I stumbled across a guest post on one of my favorite blogs that encompasses some of my current sentiments.
See Tammy Gilmore’s (of Treasure Chest of Thoughts) short but to the point guest post on 52 Teachers, 52 Weeks on I Want To Teach Forever by Mr. D
“Be firm, fair, and consistent.”
I have a student teacher this semester. This is a wonderful opportunity for learning and growth for both mentor and protege…..As an mentor teacher, I need to set the best example possible. Tammy’s straightforward statement above is a motto I must remember to live by, not only as a teacher, but as a human! This reminds me of how fortunate I am to be an educator!
Regardless of the subject we teach, us teachers are a blessed group…we have the great privilege and responsibilty to guide, educate, provide a structured environment where the best learning can take place.
Good luck blogging…and reflecting (which I really think is the greatest power of the blog). Blogging has literally changed how I communicate with my students and how they communicate with me…they each have their own blog also.Going to add you to my Google Reader…I look forward to reading about your teaching experiences!
